Rome is enchanting at night. As the street lamps begin to flicker and the city becomes embraced in the darkness of night, shadows begin to accentuate the curves of every surface. Starting in the ancient flower market of Campo di Fiori under the hooded statue of Giordano Bruno, this tour weaves through the narrow cobblestoned streets of Renaissance and Baroque Rome. From the flower market you will stroll to Piazza Navona where Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers taunts the facade of the church, which looms above, designed by Bernini’s principal rival, the melancholic architect Borromini. Then you will arrive at the foot of Rome’s most illustrious and arguably most alluring buildings, a structure that has seen both Rome’s rise and subsequent fall and has survived more than 1,885 turbulent years of history- the Pantheon. After you bid arrivederci to the Pantheon, you will walk to the Trevi Fountain where Neptune’s chariots seem to propel themselves from the stonewall in which they advance upon its viewer with rushing force. Finally ending at the Spanish Steps, where Bernini’s small but unforgettable Barcaccia Fountain rests perpetually at its feet, your guide will have created not only created an appreciation of Renaissance and Baroque Rome but hopefully implanted a memory of the past which will live in your mind forever.
